New Delhi, May 29 (H.S.): Aam Aadmi Party MLA Kuldeep Kumar and party workers on Friday staged a ‘Matka Phod’ protest outside the Delhi Jal Board office in Mayur Vihar Phase-II over the worsening water crisis in the Kondli Assembly constituency. The party warned that if the issue is not resolved soon, AAP workers would lay siege to the residence of Delhi minister Parvesh Verma.

During the protest, Kuldeep Kumar said that earlier assurances had been given that water supply across all Assembly constituencies would be restored to previous levels, whether through the Ghazipur UGR, New Kondli UGR, or Dallupura UGR systems. However, water supply cuts continue, forcing residents to struggle even for their basic water needs.

Kuldeep Kumar further alleged that despite the government’s promise to bring additional water from Haryana, people are still not receiving adequate supply. He said that when AAP leaders and thousands of residents visited the Phase-II office, no official came forward to meet them despite heavy police deployment at the site.

He stated that the ongoing water crisis reflects serious administrative mismanagement and that the people of Delhi are bearing the consequences. According to him, even the water supply that residents earlier used to receive has now been reduced significantly.

The AAP MLA also alleged that in several areas, contaminated drain water is being supplied to households. He claimed that water supply has been cut by more than 20 percent in many localities and blamed the Delhi government’s failure for several water treatment plants remaining non-functional.
