Prayagraj,
28 May (HS): Ujjwal Raman Singh, an Allahabad MP, told PPGCCL authorities that
Shankargarh experiences a severe drinking water deficit every summer. Animals,
like people, do not have access to water since wells, sewers, and ponds have
dried up, and water is delivered annually by tankers. He informed the officials
that the water from the Yamuna river is being lifted and delivered to PPGCCL;
if the excess water is sent to the Shankargarh town area via pipeline at
regular intervals in the morning and evening, many of the people's concerns
will be alleviated. The MP stated that the Bhita Surface Water Scheme, which is
nearing completion, will be operating shortly.
It
was learnt from the talks with the officials that it comes under the rural
drinking water scheme and the rural areas of Jasra Block and Shankargarh Block
will be benefited from it, whereas the town area has not been included in this
scheme, hence it becomes necessary that authorities get a feasibility check
done as to what is the population of the town area and how much water is
required and if there is no loss to the plant, then Tata Company will do a
charitable work.
MP
representative Vinay Kushwaha said during the conversation that these projects
have been brought with the efforts of MP Ujjwal Raman Singh to bring the
backward rocky Jamunapar into the stream of development and to raise the
standard of living of the local people, but the companies are only fulfilling
their own selfish interests, neither are they providing employment to the local
people nor are they contributing to the development of the area, this will not
work, only profit making will not be allowed, social responsibility will also
have to be taken.
