28 May (HS): The Lucknow Municipal Corporation is continuously working towards
making the city clean, green, and modern. In this regard, on Thursday, the
state government's Urban Development and Energy Minister, Arvind Kumar Sharma,
inaugurated the modern waste management system plant located in Bhainsora, Zone
4. Built at a cost of approximately Rs. nine crore, this plant has the capacity
to dispose of approximately 150 tons of garbage per day. Lucknow Mayor Sushma
Kharwal and Municipal Commissioner Gaurav Kumar were also present on the
occasion.
Addressing
the program, the Minister stated that the Municipal Corporation is making
continuous efforts to ensure its sanitation system is technically robust and
environmentally friendly. Sharma stated that garbage heaps should not be
visible anywhere in Lucknow, and that regular disposal of garbage should be
ensured daily. The Municipal Corporation is continuously working to make
Lucknow a clean, beautiful, green, and modern city, so that every visitor is
impressed by the city's cleanliness and greenery.
The
Municipal Corporation has identified 51 locations across eight zones for the
construction of modern waste management system plants. Work has been completed
at 24 of these sites, is in progress at 15 locations, and work will commence
soon at the remaining 12. The operation of this plant in Bhainsora will further
strengthen the garbage collection and disposal system in the surrounding areas,
including Bharwara Ward, Malhaur Ward, Khargapur Ward, and Gomti Nagar
Extension. It will also eliminate all nearby GVPs (Garbage Vulnerable Points).
Developed on an area of approximately two acres, this complex also includes
charging points for 150 vehicles, which will promote the use of electric
vehicles. Additionally, ample space has been developed for green belts and
greenery, and approximately 4,000 trees have been planted so far.
