
Bhubaneswar, 28 May (H.S.): On the birth anniversary of freedom fighter Vinayak Damodar Savarkar, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi and Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan paid rich tributes, highlighting his contribution to India’s independence movement and nation-building.
In a social media post, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi described Savarkar as a great son of Bharat Mata, an exceptional patriot, and a fearless freedom fighter. He said Savarkar’s unparalleled sacrifice, courage, and unwavering devotion to the motherland remain a lasting source of inspiration for all. The Chief Minister further noted that Savarkar’s visionary ideals and dream of building a strong nation continue to motivate citizens toward national service. He called upon people to honour his memory and work collectively for the unity, integrity, and progress of the country.
Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan also paid tribute, calling Savarkar a “Swatantryaveer” who devoted his entire life to the nation. He said Savarkar’s courage, nationalist thinking, and determination gave a new direction to the freedom struggle. Pradhan highlighted that even during the harsh imprisonment in the Cellular Jail, Savarkar’s spirit remained unshaken, and he always placed national interest above everything else.
He further described Savarkar’s life as a unique example of sacrifice, brilliance, and dedication to the nation, inspiring generations to uphold the dignity and pride of India through committed service.
