Seechewal (Jalandhar), 28 May (H.S.): Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Thursday paid obeisance at Village Seechewal during the 38th Salana Barsi Samagam of Sant Baba Avtar Singh Ji and presented a strong vision for a progressive, self-reliant and prosperous Punjab. During the event, the Chief Minister, along with Rajya Sabha MP Sant Balbir Singh Seechewal, inaugurated a new astroturf at the Sant Avtar Singh Memorial Hockey Stadium.

Addressing a large gathering, Bhagwant Singh Mann highlighted the Aam Aadmi Party government’s focus on sports infrastructure, irrigation reforms, groundwater recharge and public welfare schemes. He stated that the Punjab Government had supplied 21,000 cusecs of water to agricultural fields through pipelines and watercourses, equivalent to the capacity of two Bhakra canals. He also said sustained environmental efforts had helped recharge nearly 21 lakh cubic metres of groundwater, leading to an increase of two to four metres in the water table in several regions of the state.

The Chief Minister said Punjab is witnessing rapid transformation through improved government schools, hospitals, roads and modern sports facilities. He asserted that the colours of a vibrant “Rangla Punjab” have now started emerging across the state.

Bhagwant Singh Mann said Punjab is the sacred land of Gurus, saints and seers who have always spread the message of peace, tolerance and brotherhood. He said the state’s fertile land can nurture everything except hatred and animosity. Calling for unity among Punjabis, the Chief Minister urged people to strengthen social harmony and stand together against divisive forces trying to disturb peace in the state.

Paying rich tributes to Sant Baba Avtar Singh Ji, the Chief Minister said the saint devoted his life to spreading the teachings of Sikhism, humanity and spirituality. He said Sant Baba Avtar Singh Ji inspired people to follow the path of compassion, selfless service and brotherhood, and his contribution would always be remembered with great respect.

Bhagwant Singh Mann also praised Sant Balbir Singh Seechewal for his exceptional work towards environmental conservation and promoting the “Seechewal Model.” He said Punjab is fortunate to have spiritual leaders who dedicate their lives to protecting nature, cleaning rivers and canals and serving society without personal interests.

Sharing his thoughts on the occasion, the Chief Minister said the Punjab Government remains fully committed to ensuring a safe, prosperous and dignified life for every citizen. He added that the government would continue working tirelessly to rebuild a flourishing and progressive “Rangla Punjab” for future generations.
