28 May (HS): Five persons, including a college principal and a social worker,
were arrested in Uttar Pradesh's Muzaffarnagar district for allegedly posting
improper information about Bakrid greetings on social media, police said on Thursday.
According to Senior Superintendent of Police Sanjay Kumar, Punit Kumar, the
head of a college in the Mirapur area, and computer operator Pradeep Kumar have
been detained.
According
to investigators, the accused duo reportedly uploaded Bakrid greetings made
using artificial intelligence (AI) that included photos of cows, which drew
criticism from various organizations. In another case, social worker Gohar
Siddiqui was detained for allegedly sharing similar information with cow
pictures on social media. According to authorities, Zahid and Kalimuddin were
detained on Thursday in the Kakroli and Bhopa police stations, respectively,
for similar posts. The SSP stated that the instances had been registered
separately and that additional investigation was underway.
