
New Delhi, May 26 (H.S.): Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari reviewed the quality and maintenance progress of national highway projects covering 4,335 kilometres in Punjab.
Union Ministers of State Ajay Tamta and Harsh Malhotra, senior officials from the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) and the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, along with project contractors, were present during the review meeting held here on Tuesday.
During the meeting, Gadkari stressed the need to accelerate implementation at the ground level, strengthen quality monitoring mechanisms, and adopt modern construction methodologies. He said these measures would enhance the lifespan of assets, improve riding quality, and ensure seamless connectivity across major corridors.
The Union Minister also directed officials to undertake advance monsoon preparedness measures. These include effective drainage management, slope protection measures, and rapid response mechanisms to minimise disruptions and ensure the safety of commuters.
