
New Delhi, 26 May (H.S.): Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari reviewed the quality and maintenance works of 3,332 kilometres of national highway projects in Delhi and Haryana. He issued directions to ensure timely execution of projects, strict quality monitoring, and necessary preparations ahead of the monsoon season.
The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways stated that in a review meeting held here on Tuesday, Union Ministers of State Ajay Tamta and Harsh Malhotra, senior officials of the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) and the Ministry, along with contractors associated with the projects, were present. The review was conducted based on feedback received from media and social media platforms.
During the meeting, Gadkari emphasized accelerating on-ground execution, strengthening quality monitoring mechanisms, and adopting modern construction technologies. He said these measures would enhance the lifespan of roads, improve travel quality, and ensure seamless connectivity on major routes.
The Union Minister also directed officials to make advance preparations before the monsoon season. These include ensuring effective drainage systems, implementing slope protection measures, and establishing rapid response mechanisms in case of disruptions, so as to ensure commuter safety and prevent traffic disruptions.
