Guwahati, 26 May (HS): The Justice Sharmilla Bhuiyan's Special Fast-Track Court in Guwahati has formally framed charges against all seven accused in the high-profile Zubeen Garg death case, paving the way for the trial to proceed further. The accused have been booked under stringent provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including charges of murder, criminal conspiracy and criminal breach of trust.

Those against whom charges were framed include Shyamkanu Mahanta, Shekharjyoti Goswami, Siddhartha Sharma, Amritprabha Mahanta, Sandipan Garg, along with two personal security officers, Nandeshwar Bora and Paresh Baishya. According to court proceedings, four of the accused are facing direct murder charges, while the two PSOs have primarily been charged with criminal breach of trust.

The Assam Police CID Special Investigation Team (SIT), which submitted an extensive charge sheet in the case, has alleged that the singer was murdered in Singapore as part of a planned conspiracy. Investigators claimed that financial irregularities and professional disputes were among the key motives behind the alleged crime.

With the framing of charges completed, the court has intensified the pace of proceedings and fixed subsequent hearings for witness from June 8.-----------
