New Delhi, May 23 (H.S.): The race for the Orange Cap and Purple Cap in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 has turned sharply thrilling as the league phase enters its final rounds. After Friday’s match between Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), both leaderboards saw several key shifts.

Big leap for De Klerk in Orange Cap race

Gujarat Titans’ opening batter Sai Sudharsan remains at the top of the Orange Cap standings with 638 runs. His teammate and captain, Shubman Gill, follows in second place with 616 runs.

Explosive Sunrisers Hyderabad batter Heinrich Klaasen has surged into third place after a blistering 51 off just 24 balls against RCB. Klaasopen now has 606 runs in 14 innings.

Rajasthan Royals’ Vaibhav Suryavanshi sits in fourth position with 579 runs.

Meanwhile, SRH’s wicketkeeper‑batter Ishan Kishan smashed 79 off 46 balls against RCB to claim a spot in the top‑5. Kishan now has 569 runs in the tournament.

Bhuvi and Rabada equal on top in Purple Cap contest

In the Purple Cap race, Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s fast bowler Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Gujarat Titans’ Kagiso Rabada are level at the top with 24 wickets each.

However, with a better economy rate of 8.07, Bhuvneshwar Kumarn currently holds the Purple Cap, while Rabada’s economy stands at 9.18.

Chennai Super Kings’ (CSK) young pacer Anshul Kambhoj is in third place with 21 wickets, while Gujarat Titans’ star spinner Rashid Khan follows in fourth with 19 wickets.

Sunrisers Hyderabad’s Eshan Malinga picked up two wickets against RCB to take his tally to 19, but with an economy of 9.27, he remains in fifth position.
