
New Delhi, May 23 (H.S.): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday distributed appointment letters to more than 51,000 newly recruited candidates for various Central government jobs during the 19th edition of the Rozgar Mela held via video conferencing. He said that India’s youth would play a decisive role in building a developed nation and that the coming years would witness massive employment opportunities in the new economy and technology-driven sectors.
Addressing the newly appointed candidates, the Prime Minister said the day was extremely significant for thousands of young people and their families across the country. He noted that the selected candidates would now assume new responsibilities in sectors such as railways, banking, defence, healthcare, education and several other government services, becoming active stakeholders in India’s growth journey.
Modi said that during his recent visit to five countries, he held extensive discussions with the heads of major global companies, and there was visible enthusiasm everywhere regarding India’s youth and the country’s technological advancement. He stated that the world wants to become a part of India’s development story and that India is expanding partnerships with various countries to create fresh opportunities for young people.
The Prime Minister said sectors such as clean energy, critical minerals, green hydrogen and sustainable manufacturing are rapidly emerging as major growth drivers. He added that increased cooperation with countries such as Sweden, Norway and Italy in green transition and sustainable technology would strengthen India’s future clean manufacturing ecosystem.
He further said that India’s partnership with the UAE and Norway would significantly strengthen the country’s shipbuilding ecosystem, creating greater demand for engineers, technicians and skilled workers.
Modi stated that India is moving ahead with the goal of becoming a developed nation by 2047 and that massive investments are being made across different sectors to achieve this objective. These investments, he said, are generating millions of employment opportunities for the youth.
Highlighting India’s growing industrial capacity, the Prime Minister said the country is rapidly emerging as a global electronics manufacturing hub and is also developing a robust semiconductor manufacturing supply chain. He expressed confidence that India’s ten major semiconductor units would gain global recognition in the coming years and that the country’s youth would play a crucial role in their success.
The Prime Minister also underlined the importance of rural connectivity, stating that improved infrastructure in villages has opened up new opportunities for farmers, small traders and students. Referring to the increasing participation of women in economic activities, he said a large number of women-led startups are emerging across the country and that millions of women have received financial assistance under the Mudra scheme.
Modi urged the newly recruited candidates to consider public service as a medium for national service and public welfare and to contribute with dedication and integrity.
It is noteworthy that nearly 1.2 million appointment letters have been distributed so far through 18 Rozgar Melas organised across the country. The 19th Rozgar Mela was conducted at 47 locations nationwide. During the programme, selected candidates received appointments in various ministries and departments, including the Ministries of Railways, Home Affairs, Health and Family Welfare, the Department of Financial Services and the Department of Higher Education.
