New Delhi/Rome, 21 May (H.S.): Prime Minister Narendra Modi has departed from Rome for India after successfully concluding his official five-nation tour covering the United Arab Emirates (UAE), the Netherlands, Sweden, Norway, and Italy. He is expected to arrive in India within the next few hours.

During the final leg of the visit in Italy, Prime Minister Modi held bilateral talks with Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni. The two leaders agreed to elevate India-Italy relations to the level of a “Special Strategic Partnership.”

Before departing from Rome on Wednesday night, Prime Minister Modi wrote in a post on X that his visit to Italy had been highly successful.

“My Italy visit concludes after being extremely productive. Along with Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, I discussed issues across several sectors. The most important outcome of this visit is that India and Italy will elevate their relationship to the level of a ‘Special Strategic Partnership.’ This will benefit all of humanity and provide fresh momentum to bilateral cooperation in the years ahead. I thank Prime Minister Meloni, the Government of Italy, and the wonderful people of Italy for their friendship,” he stated.

Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal also posted on X, saying, “India-Italy relations have grown stronger. The final leg of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s five-nation tour has concluded. Following a successful visit to Italy, the Prime Minister has departed for India. The visit yielded significant outcomes and imparted fresh momentum toward deepening the Special Strategic Partnership between the two countries.”
