New Delhi, May 20 (H.S.): Prime Minister Narendra Modi emphasised the importance of ideal life values and conduct rooted in scriptures, stating that human behaviour guided by well-established principles illuminates both the individual and society.
Sharing a Sanskrit *subhashita* on social media platform X, the Prime Minister wrote:
“तस्माच्छास्त्रं प्रमाणं ते कार्याकार्यव्यवस्थितौ।
ज्ञात्वा शास्त्रविधानोक्तं कर्म कर्तुमिहार्हसि।।
Explaining the meaning of the verse, he said that scriptures should serve as a guiding authority in determining what ought to be done and what ought to be avoided. A person, he stated, should perform actions only after understanding the principles and guidelines prescribed in the scriptures.
Prime Minister Modi said that moral and righteous conduct functions like a lamp that not only illuminates an individual’s life but also provides direction and enlightenment to society as a whole. He observed that when individuals live according to established ideals and values, their conduct becomes balanced, socially acceptable and beneficial to the wider community.
He further stated that citizens across the country are actively contributing to nation-building with discipline, determination and dedication to duty, describing this as a living example of Indian values and exemplary conduct.
The Prime Minister said that true and noble conduct is that which positively guides not only the individual but society at large. He also called upon citizens to make moral values and a sense of duty the foundation of their lives.
