New Delhi, May 19 (H.S.): President Droupadi Murmu, Vice President C.P. Radhakrishnan and Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday expressed deep sorrow over the demise of former Uttarakhand Chief Minister B.C. Khanduri, remembering his remarkable contributions to both military service and public life.

In her condolence message, President Droupadi Murmu said that the passing away of former Uttarakhand Chief Minister and former Union Minister Major General (Retd.) B.C. Khanduri was deeply saddening. She stated that after rendering distinguished service in the Indian Army, he set an example in public life through his commitment to honesty, simplicity, transparency and development-oriented politics.

The President said that his dedication to the development of the nation and Uttarakhand, good governance and public welfare would always be remembered.

Vice President C.P. Radhakrishnan, in his message, said that with the demise of B.C. Khanduri, the country had lost a distinguished soldier, an able administrator and a politician of rare integrity.

The Vice President recalled that during his recent visit to Dehradun, he had met Khanduri and the two had fondly remembered their long association as colleagues in the Lok Sabha.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi also expressed grief over the demise of former Uttarakhand Chief Minister Major General (Retd.) Bhuvan Chandra Khanduri, stating that his contributions — from the armed forces to the political sphere — were invaluable and would always be remembered.

The Prime Minister said that Khanduri remained devoted to the development of Uttarakhand throughout his public life, which was clearly reflected during his tenure as Chief Minister.

He added that Khanduri’s tenure as a Union Minister was equally inspiring, as he worked tirelessly to improve connectivity across the country.

Prime Minister Modi further stated that Khanduri’s visionary contribution towards transforming India’s road infrastructure through the Golden Quadrilateral and the National Highways Development Programme would remain a milestone in the nation’s development history.
