
New Delhi, May 18 (H.S.): ‘Om Shanti Alaap Sangeet Academy’ organised a musical programme titled “Sing and Win,” which continued for more than three hours at the East End Club on Sunday evening. More than fifty children, teenagers, and young participants from East Delhi took part in the competition based on popular Bollywood songs and music.
Six-year-old Hasan Ali Khan and his elder sister Ayesha won a special performance trophy for their expressive rendition and melodious presentation of the classic song *“Na To Karwan Ki Talaash Hai, Na To Humsafar.”* Apart from them, six child artists and young participants won prizes across two competition categories.
Among the child performers, young girls dominated the competition. In the junior category, Mishita Sood, Maanvi Dutt, and Simona Singh secured the top three positions respectively. In the senior category, Prateek Saraf, Tanish Sharma, and Reeva and Swati emerged among the top winners.
Club president Lalit Mohan Bansal presented the Best Award to programme coordinator Neelam Sharma. Standing Committee Chairperson of the Municipal Corporation, Satya Sharma, and regional pracharak of Sanskar Bharati, Vijay, distributed the awards to the winners.
During the programme organised by Om Shanti Alaap Sangeet Academy, renowned Kirana Gharana ghazal exponent Farid Ahmad Khan performed the famous Ghulam Ali ghazal *“Hum Tere Shehar Mein Aaye Hain.”* Ustad Akram Khan and Vijay emphasised that regular practice and dedication are essential for excellence in music.
Mansi Handa, a teacher at Air Force Bal Bharati School, conducted the event as compere. Academy director Neelam Sharma announced that competitions in Kathak dance and musical instruments would be organised in the coming months.
The distinguished panel of judges included classical music maestro Amjad Ali Khan, Ajrada Gharana tabla exponent Ustad Akram Khan, and Kashmiri santoor maestro Pandit Dishari Chakraborty.
Among those present at the event were journalists Dilbar Gothi and Kamaljeet Singh, along with club office-bearers Kapil Tyagi, Manish Ojha, Praveen Wadhwa, G.K. Bansal, Suchit Singhal, and several eminent guests from the area.
