New Delhi, May 18 (H.S.):
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested Professor Shivraj Motegaonkar, owner of RCC Coaching Institute in Latur, in connection with the alleged NEET-UG paper leak case. The institute is a major network that provides coaching for the NEET examination and operates nine branches.
According to the CBI, during searches conducted at Motegaonkar’s institute and residence, investigators recovered a chemistry question bank containing the same questions that reportedly appeared in the examination held on May 3.
The agency said that raids were conducted at five locations over the past 24 hours, during which several documents, laptops, and mobile phones were seized.
The CBI stated that the case was registered on May 12 after the Department of Higher Education under the Ministry of Education lodged a complaint regarding the alleged paper leak.
So far, a total of 10 individuals have been arrested from Delhi, Jaipur, Gurugram, Nashik, Pune, Latur, and Ahmednagar in connection with the case.
Nine accused persons have already been produced before the court and remanded to police custody, while the tenth accused is currently being presented before the court.
The investigation has revealed that chemistry and biology questions were allegedly leaked before the examination, and intermediaries reportedly charged students lakhs of rupees to teach those exact questions during special coaching sessions.
The CBI said that it is continuing an impartial investigation into the matter.
