New Delhi, 14 May (H.S.): The Election Commission has issued directions to conduct the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process related to updating the voter list in 16 states and 3 union territories. Approximately 59 crore voters from 13 states/union territories were covered in the first two phases of SIR. The third phase will cover the entire country except Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, and Ladakh.

Andhra Pradesh (4,16,16,061), Arunachal Pradesh (8,87,607), Chandigarh (5,18,663), Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu (4,27,849), Haryana (2,06,63,155), Jharkhand (2,64,89,777 voters), Karnataka (5,55,74,064), Maharashtra (9,86,64,413), Manipur (20,91,999), Meghalaya (23,43,252), Mizoram (8,75,004), Nagaland (13,56,858), Delhi (1,48,23,234), Odisha (3,34,33,659), Punjab (2,14,56,297), Sikkim (4,71,094), Tripura (28,97,674), Telangana (3,39,20,705), and Uttarakhand (79,76,466) are included.

During the voter list update, over 3.94 lakh booth-level officers (BLOs) will visit homes and meet 36.73 crore voters. They will be assisted by 3.42 lakh booth-level agents (BLAs). BLAs are appointed by political parties during the enumeration phase.

The Election Commission has requested all political parties to appoint BLAs for each polling station.

Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar said in a message, “I appeal to all voters to participate enthusiastically in the third phase of Special Intensive Revision (SIR) and fill out their enumeration forms. The objective of the exercise is to include only eligible voters in the voter list and remove ineligible persons.”

According to information provided by the Commission, the draft electoral roll for Odisha, Mizoram, Sikkim, and Manipur will be published on July 5, while the final electoral roll will be released on September 6. For Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu, the draft roll will be published on July 10 and the final roll on September 11.

For Uttarakhand, the draft roll will be released on July 14 and the final roll on September 15.

For Andhra Pradesh, Arunachal Pradesh, Haryana, and Chandigarh, the draft electoral roll will be published on July 21, while the final roll will be issued on September 22.

For Telangana and Punjab, the draft roll will be published on July 31 and the final roll on October 1. For Karnataka, Meghalaya, Maharashtra, Jharkhand, and Delhi, the draft roll will be released on August 5 and the final roll on October 7.

For Nagaland, the draft electoral roll will be published on September 20 and the final roll on November 22. For Tripura, the draft roll will be published on October 21, while the final electoral roll will be released on December 23.
