New Delhi, 14 May (H.S.): Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta announced several measures, including work-from-home two days a week in government offices and a 20% reduction in fuel consumption for official vehicles. These decisions were taken following Prime Minister Narendra Modi's appeal for fuel conservation. The decisions were made in a high-level meeting chaired by the Chief Minister at Delhi Secretariat.
Addressing a press conference at Delhi Secretariat, the Chief Minister stated that during times of global uncertainty, every citizen can strengthen the country's economy by making small changes in their lifestyle. The Delhi government will convert this appeal into a 90-day public campaign. She announced that government offices will implement work-from-home two days a week.
Additionally, an advisory has been issued to the private sector to adopt work-from-home two days a week.
The Chief Minister said fuel consumption in government vehicles will be reduced by 20%. Every Monday, all ministers, senior officials, and government employees will commute to office by metro. She appealed to citizens to avoid using private vehicles one day a week.
The Chief Minister announced that the Delhi government will not purchase any new petrol/diesel/CNG/hybrid vehicles for the next six months. Employee transport allowance will be increased from 10% to 20% if employees use 20% of their transport allowance for metro/DTC/public transport cards. Freight will be transported by train instead of trucks. Delhi government ministers and officials will not undertake any official foreign trips for the next one year. The Delhi government will prioritize the use of 100% made-in-India products.
