
Guwahati, 09 April (HS): Voting for the Assam Assembly Elections 2026 continued at a brisk pace across all 126 constituencies, recording a significant turnout of 75.91% by 3 PM on Thursday, as per data released by the Election Commission.
The polling, which began at 7 AM, witnessed steady participation throughout the day. Earlier in the day, voter turnout stood at 17.87% by 9 AM, 38.92% by 11 AM, and 59.63% by 1 PM, reflecting a consistent rise in voter engagement.
Several districts reported particularly high turnout figures, with Barpeta, Bongaigaon, Darrang, Goalpara, and South Salmara-Mankachar crossing the 80% mark. South Salmara-Mankachar recorded the highest turnout at 84.24%.
Among other districts, Bajali recorded 78.60%, Baksa 75.86%, Biswanath 76.73%, Cachar 73.80%, Charaideo 75.71%, Chirang 76.99%, Dhemaji 74.77%, Dhubri 80.79%, Dibrugarh 72.34%, Dima Hasao 72.05%, Golaghat 74.00%, Hailakandi 69.06%, Hojai 78.09%, Jorhat 73.05%, Kamrup (Metro) 65.30%, Kamrup 79.01%, Karbi Anglong 65.93%, Kokrajhar 77.24%, Lakhimpur 77.65%, Majuli 79.25%, Morigaon 81.83%, Nagaon 76.88%, Nalbari 76.72%, Sivasagar 74.95%, Sonitpur 74.89%, Sribhumi 74.31%, Tamulpur 73.49%, Tinsukia 71.73%, Udalguri 74.84%, and West Karbi Anglong 66.80%.
The high voter turnout indicates strong public participation in the democratic process, with polling proceeding largely peacefully across the state.---------------
