Bhubaneswar, 08 April (H.S.): The Odisha Vigilance on Wednesday conducted simultaneous raids at multiple locations linked to Rajesh Chandra Mohanty, Additional Chief Engineer of the Irrigation Circle, as part of an ongoing probe into alleged corruption and financial irregularities. The searches were carried out at six places across Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Dhenkanal, and Jajpur, with his residence near Baramunda being the primary focus of the operation. Multiple teams of vigilance officials were involved in the early morning crackdown.

During the course of the searches, officials reportedly recovered incriminating documents and valuables suspected to be worth around Rs 1 crore, though the exact valuation is yet to be officially confirmed. Among the items seized were cash amounting to Rs 7 lakh, mutual fund investments estimated at around Rs 30 lakh, travel-related expenditures of approximately Rs 14 lakh, and hotel bills worth about Rs 1.18 lakh. In addition, a collection of luxury watches, sunglasses, as well as gold and diamond ornaments were also recovered from the premises.

Sources indicated that the seizures are part of a broader investigation aimed at examining the financial transactions, assets, and possible disproportionate wealth linked to the senior official. The vigilance department is continuing its detailed scrutiny to ascertain the extent of alleged irregularities and accumulation of assets beyond known sources of income.
