Guwahati, 08 April (HS): Senior advocate of Gauhati High Court Bijon Mahajan has drows attention with a series of remarks ahead of the elections, alleging that groups referred to as “Miya” are arriving in Assam in large numbers with the intent to influence the electoral outcome.

Mahajan claimed that this influx is driven by what he described as “unwarranted affection” towards the Congress party and an attempt to repay perceived political obligations by ensuring the party’s victory in the state.

He further alleged that such developments pose a threat to the unity, integrity and sovereignty of India, expressing concern over the potential impact on the electoral process.

Calling for vigilance, Mahajan urged all communities and patriotic citizens residing in Assam to unite and collectively resist what he termed as a serious challenge in the run-up to the polls.-----------
