Guwahati, 08 April (HS): Polling officials in different districts of Assam have departed from the designated strong room carrying Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) to their respective polling stations ahead of the voting process.

Recording to the reports from Shivsagar district, the EVMs were dispatched from the strong room set up at Sivasagar Government Higher Secondary Multipurpose School. Presiding Officers, along with necessary documents and election materials, have already begun their journey to the polling centres to ensure smooth conduct of polling.

According to official data, the total number of voters in Sivasagar district stands at 570,562. The district has a total of 741 polling stations, including 150 women-managed polling stations and 10 model polling stations.

It may be mentioned that the polling parties for Karbi Anglong, Dima Hasao, Dhemaji etc. districts remote polling booths had already been dispatched on Tuesday with polling materials.-----------
