Congress Chief Kharge Expresses Regret Over Gujarat Remarks

New Delhi, 08 April (H.S.):

Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge apologized for recent comments perceived as targeting Gujarat's people amid escalating controversy. He clarified that his statements were misrepresented on social media and never intended to hurt sentiments.

In a Wednesday post on X, Kharge stated that certain remarks from a recent Kerala speech were deliberately distorted. Assuming responsibility, he expressed regret while affirming his enduring respect for Gujaratis, which he vowed to maintain.

Notably, during an election rally in Idukki, Kerala, Kharge had praised Keralites as educated and sensible, beyond deception. Addressing Prime Minister Modi, he added that the latter might fool illiterate people in Gujarat and elsewhere.
