Imphal, 05 April (HS): In a coordinated operation, Manipur Police arrested three active cadres of the proscribed outfit KCP (PWG) from Imphal East and Imphal West districts.

According to a statement issued by the Manipur Police Headquarters on Sunday, the arrested individuals have been identified as Thangjam Yaiphaba Meitei alias Ravi or Pikru (32), Laitonjam Ramakant Meitei alias Bothe (35) and Thongjam Herojit alias Gudupao (39). All the three were apprehended from their respective residences during the operations.

During the arrests, security personnel seized three mobile handsets and two Aadhaar cards. Police stated that the operation was carried out based on specific intelligence inputs regarding the activities of the group in the region.

In a separate development, a significant cache of arms and explosives was recovered near Yangoubung village under Moreh Police Station in Tengnoupal district, between border pillars 72 and 73.

The recovered items included one AK-47 rifle with magazine, two 9 mm pistols with magazines, four detonators, eight batteries, a tactical radio set, a first aid kit and Myanmar currency amounting to 16,800 Kyat. Additionally, 16 improvised explosive devices (IEDs) were recovered from the site and were safely destroyed on the spot by security teams.-----------
