Lucknow,
5 April (HS): Prior to World Health Day (April 7, 2026), Uttar Pradesh Chief
Minister Yogi Adityanath emphasized the reform of state health services, with
an emphasis on eliminating Japanese Encephalitis and promoting Swasth UP,
Samarth UP. He advised young people to adopt yoga and athletics for
improved health, citing a growth in functional medical colleges from 36 to
83. CM Yogi stressed better healthcare accessible
for the ordinary man, as well as a significant drop in encephalitis incidence
in eastern Uttar Pradesh since 2017. The state has seen a tremendous rise in
medical facilities, with functioning medical colleges growing from 36 to 83,
ensuring a one district, one medical college policy. Prior to World
Health Day, the CM emphasized the need of a healthy populace for a strong
state. He also urged regular yoga and sports.
Approximately
5.8 crore individuals have been handed golden cards through health
insurance schemes, with ambitions to boost this figure to 10 crore. The government is constructing AI centers of
excellence at IIT Kanpur and SGPGI Lucknow, as well as a 1,500-acre
pharmaceutical park in Lalitpur. As of April 2026, the administration has
continued to strive for a Swasthya Sabke Liye (Health for All)
program, emphasizing the integration of traditional medicine through AYUSH and
the establishment of new medical institutions.
In
a post on X, he mentioned, “My respected citizens of the state, April 7 is
World Health Day. Nine years ago, the state of health services in Uttar Pradesh
was pathetic. When our government got the opportunity to serve, Japanese
encephalitis, the scourge of eastern Uttar Pradesh, was eradicated. Sports are
directly linked to health, therefore a sports-friendly ecosystem has been
developed in the state. I appeal to parents to encourage their children to
participate in sports activities. Young people should include sports, yoga, and
exercise in their daily routine. A healthy lifestyle is the foundation of a
healthy life.”
