Deoria,

5 April (HS): Officials claimed on Sunday that an 18-year-old Dalit girl was

reportedly slain by her lover and his colleague in the Rampur Karkhana police

station area after an incident related to their relationship. The victim's neck

was reportedly cut on Saturday night by the accused. According to the police,

Anjali, a native of Nautan Hathiyagarh village, was on her way to a neighboring

market with her elder sister and younger brother to repair a mobile phone when

they were stopped by two bike-riding youngsters. The perpetrators allegedly

beat the trio until one of them took out a knife, leading them to escape,

according to police, who added that the girl was pursued into a wheat field and

attacked with the weapon.

While

her siblings went home to alert family members, the accused reportedly returned

to the site and sliced her neck, murdering her on the spot before leaving, they

said. The primary accused, Aditya Singh alias Shivam Singh, and his friend

Rakesh Kumar Gond, have been charged with murder and the applicable sections of

the SC/ST Act. Circle Officer Sanjay Kumar Reddy and Station House Officer

Ashwani Pradhan arrived at the location shortly after getting the information. The

corpse has been submitted for a postmortem examination.

According

to preliminary investigations, the girl and Singh had been in a relationship

for the previous four years, and several suspects have been held for questioning.

We opened a case based on a complaint from the victim's relatives. SHO Pradhan

stated that efforts are being made to apprehend the remaining offenders as soon

as possible.
