5 April (HS): Officials claimed on Sunday that an 18-year-old Dalit girl was
reportedly slain by her lover and his colleague in the Rampur Karkhana police
station area after an incident related to their relationship. The victim's neck
was reportedly cut on Saturday night by the accused. According to the police,
Anjali, a native of Nautan Hathiyagarh village, was on her way to a neighboring
market with her elder sister and younger brother to repair a mobile phone when
they were stopped by two bike-riding youngsters. The perpetrators allegedly
beat the trio until one of them took out a knife, leading them to escape,
according to police, who added that the girl was pursued into a wheat field and
attacked with the weapon.
While
her siblings went home to alert family members, the accused reportedly returned
to the site and sliced her neck, murdering her on the spot before leaving, they
said. The primary accused, Aditya Singh alias Shivam Singh, and his friend
Rakesh Kumar Gond, have been charged with murder and the applicable sections of
the SC/ST Act. Circle Officer Sanjay Kumar Reddy and Station House Officer
Ashwani Pradhan arrived at the location shortly after getting the information. The
corpse has been submitted for a postmortem examination.
According
to preliminary investigations, the girl and Singh had been in a relationship
for the previous four years, and several suspects have been held for questioning.
We opened a case based on a complaint from the victim's relatives. SHO Pradhan
stated that efforts are being made to apprehend the remaining offenders as soon
as possible.
