New Delhi, 05 April (H.S.): The central government has swung into action following widespread crop losses from recent heavy rains and hailstorms across multiple states. Union Agriculture and Farmers' Welfare Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has directed officials to conduct immediate assessments, emphasizing timely relief for affected farmers.

According to the Agriculture Ministry, Chouhan instructed state authorities to compile detailed damage reports for accurate evaluation. Precise assessment of crop losses is essential to ensure prompt assistance reaches farmers, he stated, reassuring growers that the Centre stands firmly with them during this crisis.

A meeting with agriculture ministers from impacted states is slated for today to deliberate relief measures and compensation. Chouhan affirmed the government's commitment to exhaustive support, amid reports of flattened rabi crops like wheat and mustard in northern and central India.
