Bongaigaon (Assam), 05 April (HS): Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Sunday made a strong appeal to voters in Abhayapuri, asserting that Assamese people also know how to exercise their voting rights decisively and said the upcoming election would demonstrate this.
Addressing a massive election rally in support of BJP candidate Bhupen Ray, the Chief Minister remarked that some groups assume only a particular community votes strategically, adding that this time others would also “show how to vote.” He urged people to make a firm electoral choice in the current polls.
Highlighting development commitments, Sarma promised an investment of ₹200 crore for the development of Abhayapuri if the BJP is voted to power. He also reiterated his government’s resolve to empower youth through the Atmanirbhar Assam initiative, aimed at making them self-reliant.
The rally witnessed a huge turnout, reflecting strong public enthusiasm. In a lighter moment during the meeting, the Chief Minister interacted with a young supporter who had drawn Sarma’s portrait on his chest, expressing appreciation and sharing a brief, warm exchange with him.-----------
