5 April (HS): The Eka police station in Firozabad district of Uttar Pradesh and
the Special Operations Group (SOG) team arrested seven members of an
inter-district cattle theft gang in an encounter on Sunday. Police admitted
three of the accused, who were injured by bullets in the leg, to the hospital
for treatment.
Additional
Superintendent of Police (Rural) Anuj Chaudhary said that a case was registered
at Eka police station on April 3 that unknown thieves had stolen a buffalo tied
on the roadside outside a house at night. The police started searching for the
thieves. Station in-charge Eka Sanjul Kumar Pandey was on patrol in the area
with the police team on Sunday when they received information that the accused
wanted in the buffalo theft case were roaming in a four-wheeler Max pickup near
Nagla Dharu, planning to commit another crime today. When the police, along
with the SOG team, surrounded the vehicle and stopped it, the suspects in the
vehicle opened fire on the police team. In the retaliatory firing done by the
police team in self-defense, three accused were injured by bullets in their legs
and the remaining accused were surrounded and arrested from the spot.
The
injured accused have been identified as Salim alias Dhumi alias Bhumi son of
Alam, Kallu alias Kalua alias Firoz son of Natthu, Jumman Shah alias Jumman
Khan son of Amru. The accused caught in the siege have been identified as
Shahzad son of Gulab Khan, Afsar son of Anwar Khan, Faisal son of Furqan, Rahul
son of Shivkumar. Three illegal pistols with 06 live and 04 empty cartridges,
Rs 14,000, a buffalo, a calf (buffalo calf) and the Max pickup vehicle used in
the incident have been seized from the possession of the accused.
The
ASP stated that the arrested accused are wanted in cattle theft case registered
at Eka police station. The three injured accused have been admitted to the
hospital under police custody for treatment. Further necessary legal
proceedings are underway.
