Barpeta (Assam), 03 April (HS): Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Friday asserted that Assam would not be allowed to become a hub of “love jihad” or “land jihad”, while addressing an election rally in Barpeta in support of NDA candidate Deepak Kumar Das.

Launching a sharp attack on the Congress and AIUDF, Adityanath claimed that Congress had “already left the ground” even before the elections, and alleged that the AIUDF was attempting to gain power through infiltrators. He urged voters to once again bring the BJP-led NDA to power in Assam.

The Chief Minister emphasized that preventing infiltration and protecting Assam’s demographic balance was a key commitment of the NDA. He stated that steps were being taken to identify and expel infiltrators and ensure that alleged attempts to alter the state’s demography do not succeed.

Adityanath said the “double engine government” was determined to ensure that Assam does not become a hub of infiltration or unrest. Accusing Congress and AIUDF of undermining India’s identity and Assam’s culture, he alleged that AIUDF thrived on infiltration politics while Congress acted as its ally.

Extending greetings on the occasion of Rongali Bihu, he described Assam as a land of rich spiritual and cultural heritage, highlighting the significance of Kamakhya Temple and the contributions of saints like Srimanta Sankardev and Madhavdev in shaping the state’s cultural identity.

He also praised Assam’s historical and ecological significance, referring to Kaziranga National Park and the legacy of the Ahom dynasty. He cited the bravery of Lachit Borphukan as an inspiration for youth.

Taking a dig at previous Congress governments, Adityanath said national honours like the Bharat Ratna were once limited to a single family, contrasting it with the recognition given to Bhupen Hazarika and Gopinath Bordoloi under non-Congress regimes.

He further highlighted infrastructure and welfare initiatives under Prime Minister Narendra Modi, including improved connectivity and development projects across the Northeast.

Referring to developments in Uttar Pradesh, Adityanath claimed the state had become riot-free under BJP rule and stressed that strict action was taken against lawbreakers. He also outlined welfare schemes such as free ration, healthcare under Ayushman Bharat and employment opportunities for youth.

Concluding his speech, Adityanath appealed to the people of Assam to reject Congress and AIUDF, alleging that both parties had compromised the state’s interests, and urged voters to support the NDA for continued development and cultural preservation.-----------
