New Delhi, 03 April (H.S.):

President Droupadi Murmu described the country's youth, particularly talented players from tribal communities, as India's invaluable social capital, urging them to actively participate in sports and strive for excellence.

In an article, the President highlighted the innate sporting abilities of tribal children who create games using natural elements like mud, trees, and seeds despite limited resources. She emphasized that with proper training and facilities, this natural energy could achieve international success.

President Murmu cited 15-year-old Odisha athlete Anjali Munda, who won three gold medals at Khelo India Tribal Games 2026, inspiring youth nationwide. She noted tribal archery traditions from historical movements like Santhal Hool and Eklavya's legacy as enduring inspirations.

The President praised Khelo India for expanding sports infrastructure to rural and tribal areas, creating an inclusive ecosystem. She shared her village's residential school initiative for underprivileged children, stressing sports' role in fostering social harmony, teamwork, economic independence, and confidence.

Recalling India's first Olympic gold in hockey (1928) with tribal contributions, Murmu noted modern tribal athletes strengthening national teams. Events like Bastar and Surguja Olympics have redirected youth from negative paths toward sports achievement.

President concluded by motivating youth: Khelo India! Khoob Khelo India!
