New Delhi, 29 April (H.S.):

Global markets presented mixed signals today. U.S. markets closed lower in the previous session, though Dow Jones futures traded higher today. European markets exhibited mixed performance yesterday, while Asian bourses also showed varied trading patterns.

Concerns over an artificial intelligence boom triggered sharp declines in U.S. tech stocks during the last session, negatively impacting Wall Street's overall performance. The Dow Jones Industrial Average ended down 0.05% at 49,141.93. The S&P 500 index closed 0.49% lower at 7,138.80, while the Nasdaq shed 223.30 points or 0.90% to settle at 24,663.80. Dow Jones futures, however, gained 0.17% to trade at 49,223.42.

European markets delivered mixed results at the prior close. London's FTSE index rose 0.11% to 10,332.79, while France's CAC index fell 0.47% to 8,104.09. Germany's DAX declined 0.27% to end at 24,018.26.

Asian markets displayed a similar mixed trend today, with six out of nine major indices trading in green while three remained in red. Japan's Nikkei index traded 619.90 points or 1.03% lower at 59,917.46.

Singapore's Straits Times index slipped 0.56% to 4,860.10, and Taiwan Weighted index fell 156.23 points or 0.40% to 39,365.50.

Conversely, GIFT Nifty advanced 0.25% to 24,160.50. South Korea's Kospi rose 0.23% to 6,656.38. Hong Kong's Hang Seng index witnessed a sharp rebound, jumping 270.22 points or 1.05% to 25,950. Thailand's SET Composite index gained 0.42% at 1,486.44, Shanghai Composite climbed 0.40% to 4,094.80, and Jakarta Composite edged up 0.15% to 7,082.67.
