New Delhi, 29 April (H.S.): Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta announced Wednesday the development of 13 new gaushalas on a 'zero waste model' to enhance cow protection and gaushala infrastructure across the capital.
Noting current overcrowding harms animal health, CM Gupta assured adequate space and natural environments. Until new facilities are ready and relocation complete, existing gaushalas will receive continuous veterinary support and essential services.
Modern Features Planned
The announcement came during Ram Temple 'Pran Pratishtha' at Kishanganj's Delhi Pinjrapol Society gaushala, where Gupta personally fed cows. Each district will host at least one modern gaushala featuring biogas plants, veterinary hospitals, solar power, and zero-waste management.
Emphasizing environment and sanitation, she revealed 6 new biogas plants within two years to scientifically process daily cow dung, generating energy while keeping Delhi clean. ₹100 crore approved for dairy colony upgrades; future plans link gaushalas to Delhi Ridge and forest areas for open grazing.
CM Gupta praised gaushala operators' sacred service, noting grants-in-aid cleared within a week of assuming office, land lease renewals expedited, utility issues resolved, and ₹24 crore disbursed early this year. Joint government-society efforts will strengthen Delhi's cow protection, she affirmed.
Union Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal, NW Delhi MP Yogendra Chandoliya, Assembly Speaker Vijendra Gupta, and MLA Ashok Goyal attended.
