Guwahati, 24 April (HS): A tragic road accident in the Paltan Bazar area of Guwahati on Friday claimed the life of a two-and-a-half-year-old child, triggering widespread tension in the locality.

According to reports, the child killed on the spot after being hit by a Thar vehicle. The incident sparked anger among local residents, leading to unrest at the accident site.

Police have identified the driver of the Thar vehicle as Mintu Ali. Sources revealed that the vehicle involved in the accident was unregistered.

Meanwhile, in a separate development, Digambar Deka, who had stopped his Swift car to assist the injured child, was allegedly attacked by an agitated mob. The mob also vandalised his vehicle.

Police rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control. The unregistered Thar vehicle involved in the accident has been seized. Tension continues to prevail in the area, and an investigation into the incident is currently underway.------------
