Hathras,
April 24 (HS): A 28-year-old man suspected of abducting a juvenile girl
allegedly committed suicide inside a toilet at the Chandpa police station here,
triggering the suspension of the station house officer and a duty clerk,
authorities said on Friday. Hathras SP Chiranjeev Nath Sinha stated that a
16-year-old girl from the Chandpa area went missing on April 15. On April 18,
her father filed a complaint stating that Chandrapal, a native of Loni in
Ghaziabad district, had enticed her away.
On
Thursday, authorities successfully rescued the child from Loni and took the
culprit to the Chandpa police station. According to officials, the youngster
was taken to a 'One Stop Centre', a government project that offers women and
girls in distress comprehensive help such as medical treatment, legal counsel,
police assistance, and temporary refuge.
According
to authorities, the accused went to the police station's bathroom late on
Thursday night and reportedly hung himself. He was taken to the district
hospital, where physicians pronounced him dead. Sinha stated that SHO Shyam
Singh and duty clerk Lakhan Singh had been suspended for negligence, effective
immediately. The accused and the girl met on Instagram around two years ago,
and their connection grew from there, according to authorities.
