
Nagpur, 24 Apr
(HS): Baramati in Pune district has recorded 56.56 per cent voting, while
Rahuri in Ahilyanagar district recorded54.80 per cent of voting.
By-polls in two
seats in Maharashtra were held following deaths of the representatives of those
constituencies. Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar died in a plane crash in
Baramati on January 28. His wife Sunetra Pawar is contesting elections in the
vacancy created by his death. She has been made DCM by the BJP-led Mage
Alliance.
BJP MLA
Shivajirao Kardile of Rahuri died in October last year. His son Akshay Kardile is
contesting elections from the constituency.
Many major
political parties made efforts to conduct the elections unopposed. But the
efforts failed and polling was conducted on April 23.
Counting of
votes will be held on May 4, along with four states were Assembly elections are
being held and eight other constituencies in various states where by-polls were
held on April 23.
