Bongaigaon (Assam), 23 April (HS): Gold valued at over ₹1 crore was seized at New Bongaigaon Railway Station, and one person has been arrested in connection with the case.

The accused has been identified as Amar Ali, from whose possession 582 grams of gold was recovered during the operation.

According to officials, the gold was being illegally transported from Barpeta to Bihar when it was intercepted. The seizure was made while the consignment was being carried aboard the North East Express.

Authorities have launched further investigation to ascertain the source and intended recipients of the seized gold.-----------
