New Delhi, 21 April (H.S.):

The Delhi High Court has held Hockey India General Secretary Bhola Nath Singh guilty of contempt, with Justice Purushendra Kaurav bench scheduling sentencing for May 4.

The contempt petition, filed by Hockey India Vice President Saeed Asima Ali, alleged non-compliance with the High Court's January 17, 2025 directive mandating provision of executive board meeting links to enable her virtual participation. Hockey India officials failed to share links for July 4 and July 27, 2025 meetings.

The court rejected officials' other engagements justification, noting they neither sought order modification nor expressed remorse for disobedience. Justice Kaurav observed Singh's conduct appeared deliberate, constituting clear contempt.

Running a national sports federation on public funds demands more than administrative negligence, the court ruled, emphasizing accountability for court-mandated access.
