Guwahati, 02 April (HS): Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha and Congress leader Rahul Gandhi arrived in Dimapur on Thursday and proceeded directly to Bokajan in Assam’s hill district, where he addressed a major election rally.
The rally was organised in support of a candidate backed by the Opposition unity platform, with Rahul Gandhi campaigning on behalf of the Congress. More than 15,000 people were reported to be present at the venue, while a large number of supporters continued to make their way to the venue.
Several senior leaders of the Opposition alliance, including Assam Pradesh Congress Committee president Gaurav Gogoi, were in attendance at the rally.
Meanwhile, the political atmosphere in the hill district has intensified, with BJP leaders camping in the area over the past two days. Among them, Assam minister Pijush Hazarika has been actively present. Reports also suggest that hundreds of Congress workers joined the BJP in his presence during Rahul Gandhi’s visit, further heating up the electoral contest.------------
