Guwahati, 19 April (HS): Assam Legislative Assembly Deputy Speaker Numal Momin supported Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s address to the nation, stating that the failure to pass the Women’s Reservation Bill in Parliament has exposed the “real face” of the opposition, particularly the Indian National Congress.

Reacting to the ongoing debate over women’s rights, Momin said that despite repeatedly claiming to support women’s empowerment, the opposition led by Congress failed to ensure the passage of the bill. He termed the development “shameful” and alleged that while opposition parties often speak about empowering women, they failed to act when the opportunity arose.

He also criticised Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi, accusing him of attempting to tarnish India’s image during his foreign visits. Momin further claimed that the opposition’s approach reflects an intent to obstruct the country’s development, aligning with the Prime Minister’s remarks following the bill’s failure to pass in Parliament.-----------
