
Magisterial custody remand for fraudster Ashok
Kharat
Mumbai, 18 Apr (HS): Nashik’s fraudster Ashok Kharat
has been remanded to magisterial custody till April 30 by the Nashik Court. He
was presented through videoconferencing o Saturday, the last day of his police
remand. The enquiry committee, however, present him in the court on Sunday in
connection with the fifth offence registered against him. Ashok Kharat was
arrested on March 17 in connection with sexual exploitation of many women,
cheating and money laundering and projecting himself as astrologer having superhuman
powers. A total of 14 offences have been registered against Kharat.
Besides the Special Investigating Team (SIT), the
Enforcement Directorate has also registered offence against Kharat. Out of the
14 offences he was remanded to police custody in four cases, Police may seek
police custody again on Sunday.
