
Aligarh, April 18 (HS): A
30-year-old man was stabbed to death reportedly by his family after he
requested them to refund Rs 20,000 he had borrowed them, a police officer said
Saturday. According to reports, Afsar (30) died. According to authorities,
Afsar (30) used to own a cafe near the AMU campus and is the father of two
young children. He was walking back from the canteen late on Friday night when
the assailants approached him and stabbed him numerous times. Other family
members and police officers transported him to Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College
Hospital, where he died from his injuries, according to authorities. Afsar had
loaned Rs 20,000 to his sister and brother-in-law some weeks before.
He recently began demanding back, and his sister and brother-in-law were
outraged by his repeated efforts. Some other family members had reached an
agreement a day earlier, but late on Friday night, things took a violent turn,
resulting in the incident, in which Afsar was stabbed to death, police said. On
Saturday, Circle Officer (Civil Lines) Sarvan Singh informed reporters that
four people had been detained, including Afsar's sister Shahnaaz and his three
nephews. Police are looking for the other assailants, including his
brother-in-law Imran, who is missing and is thought to be one of the major
perpetrators.
