Kolkata, 17 April (H.S.): Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Friday described the ongoing investigation into the Nashik-based Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) case as “extremely serious,” stating that preliminary findings suggest the activities were part of a well-organised system rather than isolated incidents.

Speaking to the media in Kolkata during his election campaign visit to West Bengal, Fadnavis said that allegations related to sexual harassment and religious coercion have emerged during the probe. He assured that the state government is treating the matter with utmost seriousness and strict action is being taken against those found guilty.

“This is a very serious case, and we are taking stringent steps. It has come to our notice that these activities were carried out under an organised mechanism,” he said. He also noted that Tata Consultancy Services has played a crucial role in the investigation and is not attempting to shield any accused individuals.

According to the Chief Minister, the company management has strongly condemned the actions of the accused employees and is fully cooperating with law enforcement agencies to ensure justice for the victims. He added that the company’s stance sets an important example of corporate accountability.

Fadnavis further informed that Nashik Police are examining CCTV footage and digital communication records to identify others potentially involved in the alleged network. Security and surveillance have also been enhanced at key IT hubs across the state to ensure workplace safety.

Investigations have revealed that employees were allegedly pressured to consume specific types of food and participate in religious activities against their will.

So far, several individuals, including senior employees and a human resources official, have been arrested for allegedly ignoring internal complaints.

A Special Investigation Team (SIT) has been constituted to probe the organised nature of the case.
