New Delhi, 16 April (H.S.):
The Supreme Court refused to entertain a petition seeking directives for the proper display of the Ashoka Chakra on the national flag. A bench presided by Chief Justice Suryakant urged the petitioner to pursue constructive societal work rather than litigate emotional matters.
During hearing, the petitioner presented a photo of an Ashoka Chakra at a Varanasi intersection, citing irregularities and demanding standardized protocols. The court acknowledged good intentions but deemed it unworthy of judicial intervention: No need for such emotionalism. You've informed authorities—now it's their call.
The bench stressed reserving judicial time for grave social issues, not symbolic displays already governed by the Flag Code of India.
