New Delhi, 15 April (H.S.):
The Central Government has decided to provide Z‑category security to Rajya Sabha member Raghav Chadha of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP).
According to sources in the Union Home Ministry, the decision was taken after reviewing inputs from intelligence agencies and assessing the threat to him.
Sources stated that Raghav Chadha will be accorded security by paramilitary forces in Delhi and Punjab.
At present, the Delhi Police have been entrusted with the responsibility of his security, and later the central arrangement will oversee his protection.
Prior to this, the AAP government in Punjab had withdrawn the Z+ security previously provided to Raghav Chadha.
He is a Rajya Sabha member from Punjab.
It may be noted that, recently, AAP removed Raghav Chadha from the post of party’s deputy leader in the Rajya Sabha and assigned Ashok Mittal to the position in his place.
The party has also informed the Rajya Sabha Secretariat that no speaking time should now be given to Chadha from the party’s quota.
