(HS): The honesty, compassion and morality in a medical professional cannot be

replaced by modern technology. Those following the noble profession should

follow these values and should not consider the profession only as a means of

earning money. The message was given by President of India Droupadi Murmu to

the degree holders in medical science. She was speaking as the chief guest at

the second convocation of All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS),

Nagpur on Wednesday.

While communicating

with the patient and his/her family members, the words and behaviour of doctor

are great psychological support. Medical professionals should be sensitive to

their feelings, she said.

Murmu also

advised the students who acquired degree to preserve attitude of continuous

learning and research in their chosen field. Use of modern technology is important,

following human values are equally important.

The President said

AIIMS, Nagpur should promote quality education, encourage research and extend

quality services to the patients. Continuous learning attitude will help

improve the knowledge and help in extending quality services. She also

emphasised the need to use modern technology including Artificial Intelligence for

effective services for lower charges.

Governor Jishnu

Dev Varma, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Union Minister of State for Public

Health Pratap Jadhav and other dignitaries were present.

Speaking on the

occasion Fadnavis gave information about improvement in health services in

Maharashtra and future planning. Efforts are being made to make available

quality health facilities to every individual within a radius of five kilometre.

Fadnavis stated

that non-communicable diseases are on the increase. A policy to tackle these

issues is being planned. The Government is working to strengthen the primary

health care system and facilitate easily available tertiary care services.

During the last

few years 15 medical colleges have been established. The government is planning

to take affordable health services to the last person, he added.
