The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has declared the results of the Class 10 examinations on Wednesday.
This year, 93.70 per cent of students have passed, reflecting a marginal increase of 0.04 percentage points compared with last year’s 93.66 per cent.
According to the Board, a total of 24,83,479 students registered for the examinations, of whom 24,71,777 appeared and 23,16,008 candidates have been declared successful.The examination was conducted from 17 February to 11 March 2026.
Region‑wise, the Trivandrum and Vijayawada regions have jointly secured the highest pass percentage of 99.79 per cent.
Chennai has also recorded an excellent performance with a pass rate of 99.58 per cent, while Bengaluru has achieved 98.91 per cent.
The Delhi West and Delhi East regions registered pass percentages of 97.45 per cent and 97.33 per cent, respectively.
Girls have outperformed boys in the results.
According to the data, 94.99 per cent of girl students have passed, compared with 92.69 per cent of boys.
The pass rate for transgender students stands at 87.50 per cent.
Institution‑wise performance shows that Kendriya Vidyalayas (KVs) have secured the top position with a pass percentage of 99.57 per cent, followed by Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas (JNVs), which recorded 99.42 per cent.
Government schools and government‑aided schools have recorded pass percentages of 91.43 per cent and 91.01 per cent, respectively.
The performance of foreign schools has also been noteworthy, with a pass percentage of 99.10 per cent.
This year, a total of 2,21,574 students have scored 90 per cent or higher in the examination, of whom 55,368 candidates have achieved more than 95 per cent.
The large number of students securing 90 per cent or above reflects stronger academic performance overall.
CBSE has stated that 1,47,172 candidates have been placed in the compartment category, which is 5.95 per cent of the total number of candidates.
This is a slight improvement over last year’s 5.96 per cent.
These students will have another opportunity in the second phase of the examinations to improve their scores.
