
Guwahati, 14 April (HS): A one-day Rongali Bihu celebration was held at the Kharghuli Playground in the city, drawing enthusiastic participation from a large number of people. The Assamese New Year was welcomed with traditional rituals and vibrant cultural performances reflecting the rich heritage of the state.
The programme was formally inaugurated by Assam Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya, who hoisted the ceremonial flag to mark the beginning of the festivities. This was followed by a series of cultural events, where local artists showcased the essence and spirit of Bihu through music and dance.
Meanwhile, addressing the Mukoli Bihu programme organized by the All Assam Students' Union at Judges Field, AASU leaders expressed hope that the year beginning with Bohag would bring optimism and progress for Assamese society. They also wished for a year in which people feel safe and secure.
The celebrations reflected a strong sense of social unity, cultural pride and collective festivity among the participants.-----------
