Lucknow,
April 14 (HS): Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav attacked the government
BJP on Tuesday, claiming that the party that vandalized the most monuments of B
R Ambedkar is now attempting to give a false message by providing
funding for their renovation under the 'Dr Ambedkar Moorti Vikas Yojana'. On
Baba Saheb's 135th birth anniversary, Yadav paid lavish honors to Dr. BR
Ambedkar at his Lucknow statue. Yadav criticized the BJP-led government's plan
to approve a Rs 403 crore budget for erecting umbrellas over Ambedkar
sculptures across the state and other beautifying projects, claiming that the
party is sending a misleading message ahead of the polls by releasing the
budget.
During
the previous ten years of the BJP administration, the most number of Dr
Ambedkar sculptures have been damaged, and those who intend to break them are
the same ones who want to send a misleading message ahead of the elections by
presenting the budget. The people of Uttar Pradesh, however, are aware and
suspicious of the BJP's plots, according to the SP president.
The
Uttar Pradesh cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, has already
approved the Dr B R Ambedkar Murti Vikas Yojana, which will see the development
or beautification of ten memorials and statues of great icons of social justice
in each assembly constituency at a cost of Rs 403 crore.
Under
this project, sculptures and memorials to great persons such as Babasaheb B R
Ambedkar, Ravidas, Kabir, Jyotirao Phule, and Valmiki, among others, would be
protected, beautified, and upgraded with basic infrastructure. This will assist
to maintain the history of social justice heroes while also connecting the
younger generation to their beliefs. The SP head said that there is ongoing
prejudice and injustice against Dalits and backward classes, particularly the
PDA (backward Dalits and minorities) class, and that some people commit suicide
for the sake of dignity. Yadav stated that the Samajwadi Party is always
battling against the exploitation of the Bahujan population, which has been occurring
for thousands of years and to achieve a condition of social fairness, even if
it takes a few years or centuries.
Intensifying
his attack on the BJP, the former Uttar Pradesh chief minister stated that
those who discussed altering the Constitution after gaining 400 seats in the 2024
Lok Sabha elections went underground after being beaten by the voters. They
have undoubtedly gone underground, but everyone must work together to combat
them, Yadav added. He went on to say that Baba Saheb Bhimrao Ambedkar's
Constitution is more than simply a document; it is an iron sword that protects
us.
The
Constitution protects us and saves our lives. The Constitution guarantees us
justice. The Constitution is Baba Saheb Bhimrao Ambedkar's gift to us,
providing equality and the opportunity to move forward. The Constitution is our
defender, and we shall always strive to uphold Baba Saheb Bhimrao Ambedkar's
ideas, Yadav stated.
