
Kolkata, 11 April (H.S.): A journalism workshop aimed at bridging the gap between classroom learning and real-world media practices was organised in Barasat on Saturday by Banga Vidyarthi.
The programme was held in collaboration with news agency Hindusthan Samachar and news portal Madhyam.
Titled “Media Conclave – Internship Orientation for Students of Journalism, Mass Communication and Media Sciences,” the day-long workshop took place at Subhash Institute Hall in Barasat and saw participation from students of various educational institutions. Apart from journalism students, higher secondary examinees and information technology students also attended the event.
Among those present as resource persons were Krishnendu Bakshi of Madhyam, Pradip Das of Amader Bharat, IT expert Pranab Baithankar, Soumyajit Chakraborty from Hindusthan Samachar, and Debanjan Pal.
The workshop covered key aspects of journalism, including basics of news writing, social media monitoring and data journalism. Participants were also given practical training on identifying fake news.
Selected participants were offered a 15-day internship opportunity with media organisations, enabling them to gain hands-on experience in the field.
